On Tuesday, 7 April 2026, the students and teachers of Sekolah Lentera Kasih (SLK) gathered with great joy and anticipation for a meaningful and vibrant Easter Celebration. This special event was held under the theme “Christ Is Risen, He Makes Us New,” inspired by 2 Corinthians 5:17, which reminds us of the transforming power of Christ’s resurrection and the new life we receive through Him.
The celebration was designed not only as a school tradition but also as a spiritual journey for students to reflect on the true meaning of Easter. Through worship, learning activities, creative expression, and fellowship, students were invited to experience Easter in a way that was both joyful and deeply meaningful.
Beginning the Day with Worship and Devotion
The day began with a warm and reverent time of worship and devotion. Students and teachers gathered together in unity, filling the room with songs of praise, prayer, and thanksgiving. The atmosphere was filled with excitement, reverence, and gratitude as everyone prepared their hearts to reflect on the message of Easter.
Several students took an active role in leading the programme on stage. They confidently participated through Bible readings, prayers, songs, and short reflections. Their involvement not only enriched the worship experience but also encouraged them to grow in confidence and leadership in expressing their faith.
During the devotion, students were reminded that Easter is far more than a celebration of colourful eggs, decorations, or festive activities. At its core, Easter is the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ—His victory over sin and death, and the gift of new life for all believers.
The message of 2 Corinthians 5:17 was highlighted throughout the devotion:
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
This powerful verse encouraged students to reflect on their personal lives and consider how they can live as “new creations” in Christ by showing love, kindness, forgiveness, humility, and gratitude in their daily interactions.

Learning the Easter Message Through Activities
After the worship session, students moved into a series of engaging Easter-themed learning activities that combined education, creativity, and teamwork.
One of the activities was the Bible Word Search, where students enthusiastically searched for hidden words related to the Easter story and Christian values. This activity helped reinforce biblical vocabulary while also encouraging focus, patience, and attention to detail. Students worked individually and in groups, sharing excitement each time they discovered a new word.
Another highlight was the Easter Basket Craft Making. Using simple materials such as paper plates, coloured paper, glue, and ribbons, students created their own unique Easter baskets. Each basket reflected the creativity and personality of its maker. Some were bright and colourful, while others were carefully designed with intricate details. This activity not only developed students’ creativity and fine motor skills but also gave them a sense of accomplishment as they proudly displayed their finished work.
The classroom environment became lively and joyful, filled with laughter, conversation, and encouragement as students admired one another’s creations.
Creativity Through Easter Egg Decorating
One of the most anticipated activities of the day was the Easter Egg Decorating Competition. Students were given the opportunity to transform simple eggs into beautiful works of art using paint, markers, stickers, and various decorative materials.
Each student approached the activity with imagination and enthusiasm. Some designs featured bright spring colours, while others included crosses, flowers, and symbols of Easter. Every decorated egg told a unique story and reflected the creativity of its creator.
Beyond the competition itself, the activity encouraged students to appreciate the effort and creativity of their peers. It became a moment of celebration rather than comparison, where students cheered for one another and shared ideas freely.
The joy and excitement in the room demonstrated how learning becomes even more meaningful when creativity and community are combined.
Easter Egg Hunt – Find the Word
The celebration continued with the exciting Easter Egg Hunt – Find the Word activity. Students eagerly participated as they searched for hidden clues and Easter-related words placed around the designated areas.
This activity brought a sense of adventure and friendly competition. Students worked in teams, communicating, strategizing, and supporting one another as they completed the challenge. The activity encouraged critical thinking, observation skills, and collaboration.
Laughter and excitement filled the air as students discovered each clue, making the experience both fun and educational. It was a memorable moment that strengthened friendships and built teamwork among students from different classes.
A Celebration of Faith, Learning, and Community
Throughout the entire day, students were given multiple opportunities to engage in worship, creative expression, group activities, and reflection. Teachers played an important role in guiding, supporting, and encouraging students as they participated in each segment of the celebration.
More than just a series of activities, the Easter Celebration became a meaningful experience of faith, learning, and community building. Students were able to see how their faith connects with their daily lives, their relationships, and their personal growth.
The event also strengthened the sense of unity within Sekolah Lentera Kasih. Students from different grades came together, shared experiences, supported one another, and celebrated as one school family. The atmosphere reflected the values of love, respect, and togetherness that SLK continues to nurture in its students.
At SLK, we believe that education is not only about academic achievement but also about shaping character, nurturing faith, and developing creativity and compassion. The Easter Celebration served as a beautiful reminder of these values in action.
Christ Is Risen, He Makes Us New
As the celebration came to a close, students and teachers reflected once again on the central message of the day:
“Christ Is Risen, He Makes Us New.”
This message serves as a reminder that through Christ’s resurrection, we are given new hope, new purpose, and a new identity. It encourages everyone to live each day with renewed hearts—choosing kindness over anger, forgiveness over resentment, and love over indifference.
May the spirit of Easter continue to live in the hearts of all students, inspiring them to be lights of hope and positivity in their families, school, and communities.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all students, teachers, staff, and everyone who contributed to making the SLK Easter Celebration 2026 a truly meaningful and unforgettable experience.
Happy Easter from Sekolah Lentera Kasih!
